Steven Gerrard is better than David Beckham - according to America's paparazzi

When it comes to living in Los Angeles, one vital group of opinion-makers have already had their say on two of England's finest footballers.

Liverpool fans love him, Man United fans hate him, other football fans respect him, and the general public know he's that guy who's really good at football.
Over in Los Angeles, things are a little different. And as you can see in the video above, Stevie G is still getting used to the biggest difference: the Californian paparazzi.
The clip shows LA Galaxy's latest recruit surrounded by a sea of photographers and flashing lightbulbs - simply because he's gone out for dinner.
It's all a bit new to the Liverpool legend, who admits that he's not used to it, even asking the snappers if they have any tips for him. Their response is very interesting.
"Just don't be like Beckham, please".

Now, we can't imagine David Beckham is terribly fussed about the opinions of the photographers who follow his every move on a daily basis.
But take a look at the reactions of Becks and Gerrard to being snapped, and the difference becomes clear.

Prince William might have dashed the England women's football team's hopes of meeting Prince George but the squad DID get to met footballing royalty.
After being treated to breakfast at Kensington Palace with Prince William, the squad were lucky enough to meet David Beckham at Wimbledon.
It came after the team couldn't resist tweeting out a snap of themselves to their thousands of followers while they were enjoying breakfast at Kensington Palace.
But in the background is none other than Prince William, chatting to one of the guests, completely unaware of the photo being taken.
The father-of-two hosted the breakfast to celebrate the team's achievement in the World Cup.
And he told the team, who won the bronze medal in the World Cup, "you showed the men how to do it.”
William, who is president of the Football Association, said: “You showed the men how to do it - I really mean it.”
He also told the team that the country had been supporting them while they were away, saying: “You really gave it your all, and everybody here noticed it - social media was alive with it.
William said he was “proud” and went on: “What you created as a team - it’s fantastic. You’re only going to get bigger and better.”
He added to laughs from players: “Now the pressure really starts.”

William joked about his son, Prince George, telling the team “I was going to bring George this morning”, and when they let out a collective sigh of disappointment he said the toddler was playing with his toy plane.
One of England’s most senior players, Casey Stoney, dismissed the row over a tweet from the official England FA Twitter account, criticised on social media as sexist, which welcomed the players back earlier this week with the words: “Our lionesses go back to being mothers, partners and daughters today, but they have taken on another title - heroes.”
The former England captain said: “I find it incredible that someone would find that sexist.
“When I came back to this country was I a mum? Yes. Was I a daughter? Yes.
“To me it was black and white, just facts, and to be called a hero is amazing.”

Meanwhile, William visited the Imperial War Museum Duxford, Cambridgeshire to receive a newly restored Supermarine Spitfire Mark I N3200 on behalf of the museum.

Catch it like Beckham: David caught unbelievable lucky stray ball in Royal Box while watching tennis at Wimbledon

The former footballer certainly doesn’t look as if he’s lost his ball skills

David Beckham
David Beckham might have given up football but he’s a big lover of sport and remains on the ball as ever – with an epic catch at Wimbledon on Thursday.
The former England football captain sat in the Royal box looking all smart alongside his mother Sandra, and his instinctive reactions saw him ready to catch – as he quickly caught a stray shot during the mens’ doubles semi final – which featured Jamie Murray.
The 40-year-old was left visibly blushing when he was applauded for the catch which saw the tennis ball bounce off a line judge’s chair and up into the Royal Box where Kate Middleton had been sitting earlier this week.
The match saw Andy Murray’s younger brother win with Australian partner John Peers in four sets against against German Philipp Petzschner and Israel's Jonathan Erlich.
David applauded the doubles team as they were cheered off the court following their victory.

Murray can STILL win Wimbledon 2015 title — Andy's brother Jamie all set for men's doubles final

Scot who got a surprise from David Beckham during semi-final victory can put a smile back on mother Judy's face with partner John Peers on Saturday

Jamie Murray aims to put on another riveting display at Wimbledon after admitting his shock at captivating David Beckham.
Murray - whose brother Andy lost to Roger Federer in the singles semi-finals on Friday - and his Australian partner John Peers will line up on Saturday in the men’s doubles final against Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau.
The No.13 seeds set up the clash with a four-set victory in front of football legend Beckham - who even caught the ball at one stage - on Centre Court against Jonathan Erlich and Philipp Petzschner.
Scot Murray said: “It was funny - I kept looking up at each change of ends to see if he was still there.
“I thought at one point he was going to get bored and walk out. I was happy he stayed until the bitter end.”
Becks was seen mingling with Pippa Middleton in the Royal Box.

The win left mum Judy in tears after Murray reached a Grand Slam men’s final for the first time.
Murray, who won the mixed doubles with Jelena Jankovic in 2007, will now aim to move his mum again - but admits rivals Rojer and Tecau are pals.
He said: “I would say I am reasonably close with both of them.
“They are super-nice guys and it will be good to take the court with them.”

Murray and Peers have lost to their fellow finalists twice in their three previous clashes.
But nine-time men’s Wimbledon doubles champion Todd Woodbridge said: “Jamie and John are favourites.
“I think their patterns of play are suited to the match-up. Jamie’s previous experience of winning a mixed doubles final is also going to be crucial and could help John across the line.”
Meanwhile, Brit Jordanne Whiley and Yui Kamiji are into Sunday’s final of the women’s wheelchair doubles.
They will defend their title against Jiske Griffioen and Aniek van Koot after beating Germans Louise Hunt and Katharina Kruger.

Steven Gerrard: I don't have David Beckham's looks, but I will be just as successful at LA Galaxy

Gerrard insists that he wants to follow in the footsteps of his compatriot and win trophies in California, where he says he wants to challenge himself

I'm no Beckham: Gerrard says that he will not be the star off the pitch that Beckham is
Steven Gerrard admits that he might not be as dashing as David Beckham - but he intends for the same amount of success with LA Galaxy.
Gerrard will take his playing bow with the MLS outfit during Saturday night's exhibition match with Club America.
Beckham enjoyed five successful years with Galaxy, winning the play-offs of the MLS on three different occasions.
New signing Gerrard is hoping to reach the lofty heights that Beckham reached following the move Stateside - and insists that he can make the same impact on the pitch that Beckham did.
"I think the important thing for me and for people to understand is that I'm not David Beckham," Gerrard told ESPN.

Success: Beckham's time in the MLS sparked the rise of its growth around the world
"I'm not as good looking as him and I don't have the influence that maybe David has, but I'd like to think I'm on the same level when it comes down to performing on the football pitch."
LA Galaxy marks a new adventure in Gerrard's career after leaving the club where he has spent every minute of his professional career.
The 35-year-old insists that he could have seen out the rest of his career at Anfield but insists that he wanted to continue challenging himself.
He said: "The easy thing for me would have been to sign a year extension and stay in my comfort zone at Liverpool and become a squad player and use my name to just filter into the background, or retire and call it a day.
In pictures - Gerrard's first press conference:
"But I like to challenge myself, and I think this is a fantastic opportunity and a big challenge for me at this age, and I can't wait to get stuck in.
“Without being big-headed, I feel I can contribute in many areas. I like to be an all-around midfielder, I like to help the team defensively and I also like to help the team going forward.
"I think you'll see I've still got some energy left, irrespective of what some people have said back in the UK.
"So you'll see over the coming weeks and months that I'll work as hard as I can, I'll fight for the team, with and without the ball and I'm looking to contribute in the final third.

"I'm coming into the champions, I'm coming into a fantastic team who are ready to win and if I can just add a little bit to that I'm sure the future can be successful."
Gerrard insists that he will not become a prima donna during his stay at Galaxy and hopes that his experience will become invaluable during his stay in California.
"I'm very humble. I treat all my team-mates exactly the same. I'm not just here for myself," he said.

Arrival: Gerrard at LA Galaxy's stadium following his unveiling
"I'm here to try to demand and push these guys to improve and try to help them as much as I can, and they'll realise in a short space of time that I'm here for every single one of them to bounce things off me.
"If they need me for anything both on or off the pitch, I'm willing to help. I don't treat people in life on what they earn, or how much they're worth.
"I treat them as human beings, and everyone's been fantastic with me from day one."
Gerrard has been criticised for using money as the motivation for his move to the United States but he insists that is not the case.
In pictures - Gerrard's first training session:
"I can't control people's opinions or what they think," he said.
"The only thing I can do is go out the pitch and walk the walk and prove to them in my performances that I'm not done, that I'm not retired.
"Money's never been a motivation for me. I respect money. I'm secure, I've been secure for a very long time.
"I could have retired last year and sat on the beach for the rest of my life. That's not me. I'm a footballer, I'm a winner, and I want to win for as long as I can."
